My Night With The Fire Department

Last night I got to go on a ride-a-long with the Fire Department. I had to do it for school, but it was one of the coolest things I have ever done!!! I got to ride in the fire truck for all 5 of the calls we went on. They said that I was the ride-a-long curse because they never get that many when students come, so I was pretty excited. We went to a couple car accidents, another one for an elderly lady who had passed out, and then a gun shot wound (I'll spare you the details). The whole experience was incredible and I loved it. After we got back from all the calls, the guys talked me into climbing the ladder. I was shaking the whole time, but it was worth it. They had the ladder out about 125 feet, and once I got to the end and was latched on and leaning over, they put the ladder up straight, that was freaky, and then they spun the ladder 360 degrees, it was quite the view let me tell you! They have a pretty exciting job and they all seemed to really enjoy what they do, they were so nice and made my experience incredible!
All dressed up!!!
Starting the climb...

Still climbing...

Almost there

And finally latched on
(they guys told me after that they thought I was going to climb off the edge because I just kept going, I thought I was suppose to go to the end..oops)

Yeah....we were pretty far up there
So much fun though :)

Sounds like fun... nothing like being in someone else's shoes for a day to appreciate what they do.

Ummm pretty sure there is no way I would do that...you would of have to practice CPR on me...Yikes!

I honestly had a hard time looking at those pictures of you on the ladder. It looks so scary! Pammie will be so excited though because she wants so badly to be a "fire girl". You look like you could be a natural.

I've got it!! You guys can move back here and you can get a job with Aaron!:) I was peeking at pictures on Jackie's blog, and there is a picture of Riley that reminds me so much of Lindsey!! I've never noticed the resemblance, but it's definitely there! By the way, I'm watching your ticker...four more weeks! Yeah!

It definately makes you appreciate their job a little, huh? To actually dress up in the gear and go in a fire would really freak me out. Congrats on your schooling and being almost completed! What a relief!!
